Soveriegn Rest

I am weary tonight.

Returning to my office after an informative presentation by one of the groups in my 408 diversity class and reading a letter from a friend who receives abusive treatment from colleagues; I wonder if justice will ever come to this planet.

Of course it won't, at least, not until Jesus returns, yet, at times, it seems that the daily pulling of weeds from the gardens of life are fruitless. Resolution of one crisis yields but another to be tackled. I feel burdoned, weighty, and sluggish.

Perhaps the underlying issue is this burdon of overwhelming despair.

Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest (I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls). Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good-not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne." Matthew 11:28-30 Amplified Bible

The burdon, I perceive that I carry, obviously is not the one intended by my Savior for it is not wholesome, light, or easy to bear. Thus, I need to take my arms out of the shoulder straps and let it drop at His feet, for only He is strong enough to carry such a burdon, much as He has throughout time.

May your burdens remain useful and light as you labor in the service of the King...

Ever and Always...

Beth

My Dear Sister,
As a beloved member of my spiritual family, it is unavoidable that I share in your burdons and heavy laiden heart. The two words of John 11:35 "Jesus Wept", holds a strong meaning. He was not weeping over the death of Lazarus, no, he was weeping with Martha and Mary as he shared in thier burdons.
A timely word which was spoken to my heart to remember:
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. Remember the words I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also."
"In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

AMEN and AMEN!!
Love eternally,
Tony
